“Guns Out” by Iguana Death Cult

”Guns Out” by Iguana Death Cult
I’ll admit, I hadn’t heard of Iguana Death Cult until last week, but their peculiar name was enough for me to give them a try. When I did, I found a band brimming with neo-psychedelic garage rock that’s both tightly choreographed and raucously spontaneous.
The Dutch outfit’s new album “Guns Out” is a swelling wave of sharp guitar riffs, booming basslines, and lead singer Jeroen Reek’s cheeky bellowing. It’s a cathartic cannonball whose high energy is matched only by its psycho-surfer mystique.
Iguana Death Cult didn’t just catch lightning in a bottle with this release, they captured the entire storm front.

“My New Band Believe” by My New Band Believe

“My New Band Believe” by My New Band Believe
My New Band Believe’s eponymous debut album is frontman Cameron Picton’s graduation from former group black midi, where he often took the backseat to Geordie Greep’s theatrical, often cabaret-inspired output. Now, as the leading creative force behind MNBB, Picton’s visions are fully realized, fit with gilded melodies and wistfully voyeuristic lyrics that can rival any black midi album to date.
This baroque pop treasure trove is a collaborative powerhouse, featuring members from various indie bands and established session musicians, enhanced by the record’s vast instrumentation and number of contributing artists, which by Picton’s personal count included but is certainly not limited to 22 separate musicians, 23 string instruments, 10 horns, 4 pianos, and 1 toy accordion.
Quiet moments of introspection are juxtaposed with chaotic symphonies. Picton’s compositional eye leads to a record whose main strength can be found in the wake of its ornate harmonies and fleeting visions of a love long lost.

“Total Dive” by Brown Horse

“Total Dive” by Brown Horse
Norwich-based country band Brown Horse’s third album “Total Dive” is a love letter to the English countryside, its bucolic vignettes and hardships. Guitars are layered and fuzzy, like bales of hay stacked to the heavens, and lead singer Patrick Turner’s emotive vocals lend his pensive lyrics an extra gut punch.
“Total Dive” is the dirt road after the dust settles, where the tracks of memories long gone are all that remain.
